A wintry mix arrives late Sunday night followed by a big cool-down
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Saturday evening, everyone! We saw a soggy start to our Saturday morning, but with clearing skies and a stiff southwest wind, highs managed to top out in the mid 50s in most areas.
Through the evening, a southwest wind will help to hold temps up a bit, but we’ll eventually sink into the low 40s by midnight.
Temps will gradually drop into the mid to upper 30s by daybreak Sunday.
If you’re headed to the Colts game tomorrow (kick off at 4:25 pm), expect dry skies for tailgating with rising rain chances as the game wears on.
High temps Sunday will climb into the upper 50s.
By 6-7 pm Sunday, rain will slide into central Indiana and become widespread by Sunday night.
With rapidly dropping temps Sunday night into Monday, rain will change over to a wintry mix of rain and snow.
We’re not expecting much in the way of travel impacts here in central Indiana as you head back to work or school Monday morning, but that will not be the case if you have to head northwest of town.
Blizzard and Winter Storm WARNINGS are in place from the central plains to the Chicagoland area.
A narrow band of heavy snow accumulation is likely with some areas poised to pick-up 6-10” of fresh snow. Here in Indianapolis, not so much.

Temperatures will plummet through mid week with highs in the upper 20s Tuesday and overnight lows in the teens several mornings.
The arctic blast will not last long with more wet weather and a warm-up set to slide back in by next weekend.
