Damp and breezy for St. Patrick’s Day, cold this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re in for a wet and windy Thursday night with temperatures falling through St. Patrick’s Day. This will set us up for a fairly chilly weekend.

Thursday night: Widespread rain will continue into tonight. There could be pockets of heavier rainfall at times.

Temperatures are expected to stay mild overnight with numbers in the upper 40s to low 50s. Winds are also going to be on the stronger side with gusts of 30-40 MPH.

St. Patrick’s Day: Showers will become more scattered by Friday morning, and we can’t rule out some mixed precip as the cold front passes through the state. Once the front passes us Friday morning, temperatures will quickly plummet into the 30s and 40s.

Clouds will partially decrease throughout the day, which could help temperatures rise a couple of degrees Friday afternoon. However, we will tumble even further into the 20s late Friday night. Winds will stay breezy as well.

Weekend: A few snow showers will be possible Saturday morning into early Saturday afternoon. We’ll start in the low 20s for Saturday with some locations feeling like the single digits. Breezy winds with gusts up to 30-35 MPH out of the northwest will cause our highs to struggle getting into the low 30s. Sunday is set to be a little bit warmer with numbers in the upper 30s.

8-Day Forecast: The warmup continues into next week with temperatures back in the 50s next Tuesday. We look to even make a push back towards the 60s later in the week with additional rain chances midweek next week.
