Stifling heat and humidity through midweek

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We entered the new workweek on a hot and humid note after having a toasty weekend. We are tracking among the hottest air of the year for us over the next few days.

Monday night: Another warm and muggy night will be on tap statewide. Lows will only dip into the low 70s.

Tuesday: Prepare for another sweltering afternoon with the heat and high humidity values. Isolated showers will be possible before sunset. Highs will rise into the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will certainly be over 100 for some locations.

Wednesday: We have a very good shot of having our hottest day of the year for our Wednesday. There will be the chance for isolated to scattered showers and storms due to the daytime heating alone. Overall, a stuffy afternoon will be ahead with highs climbing into the mid 90s. Heat index values will once again be over 100 for some areas across the state. It is worth a mention that the record high for Wednesday, August 25th, in Indy is 96°.

An interesting stat to also keep in mind for Wednesday is that we haven’t had a 95° day or higher in over three years. You have to go all the way back to Memorial Day 2018 to the last time we had an afternoon this hot.

8 Day Forecast: We will keep rain and storm chances going for the remainder of the workweek. Better chances for rain look to arrive for the upcoming weekend. The miserable heat and humidity will linger into the weekend. Relief will gradually build in by early next week.
