Wet and cooler Friday, near record low temperatures ahead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We had a fantastic and warm Thursday across central Indiana with breezy winds.

Thursday night:

Clouds will increase this evening with isolated showers developing late. Expect numerous showers by the overnight hours.

Lows will bottom out in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Friday:

Expect showers with possible heavy downpours to start your Friday. Showers will diminish after the lunch hour, which will lead way for a damp, cool, and breezy Friday afternoon. Temperatures will hold steady in the 40s for much of the day.

Highs will only top out in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Colder air will sink in for your Friday night with near record low temperatures possible as we fall below freezing. Areas of patchy frost will develop overnight as well. This cold air is relatively rare for May as we have only hit the 20s for low temperatures a handful of times in this month.

Saturday:

Frost looks to become widespread before sunrise Saturday, which is why freeze and frost alerts will be in affect across the state. Saturday afternoon will feature mostly sunny skies and a slight warm up.

Highs will top out in the mid 50s.

8 Day Forecast:

Have the umbrella handy for Sunday as rain chances return for Sunday afternoon. High temperatures will rise into the upper 50s for your Sunday, and enjoy a nice warming trend that will continue through next week with highs climbing into the 70s by late next week. Isolated rain chances are possible next Wednesday.
