Traffic shift underway on Meridian near I-465
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — INDOT crews are shifting traffic at US-31 and I-465 as work continues in that area. It’s happening here on Meridian Street between 96th and 106th streets.
INDOT will shift all traffic to the west side of the roadway while the northbound lanes are closed. Drivers will still be able to get on I-465 in both directions and exit to 106th street during this period.
This is just the latest in many traffic hiccups in the area. Construction started in 2011 and while the road is open to traffic through Hamilton County, there is still a lot of work to be done.
The main goal for this phase of work is to build new northbound travel lanes and paint the US-31 and 465 bridges.
This is Work Zone Awareness Week. INDOT officials said it is important to keep that in mind especially when work like this affects your routine. They warn drivers to take it slow in this area as you adjust to the change.
This phase of work is expected to take about two months.
