Monday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Here’s a look at Monday’s business headlines.

Band-Aid

Band-Aid’s products will be getting more diverse.

The brand -owned by Johnson & Johnson – is promising in an Instagram post that it will release a new line of bandages in a variety of colors “that embrace diverse skin.”

Band-Aid, however, did release a variety of skin-toned bandages back in 2005 but stopped selling them after they said there wasn’t much interest.

Big Lots

Big Lots is getting in on the grocery delivery game.

It is partnering with Instacart to launch same-day delivery at all of its 1,400 stores nationwide.

Customers can go to Instacart’s app or website and shop in a Big Lots-specific page. Instacart’s delivery is available to about 85% of households in the United States right now.

Independent restaurants

As many as 85% of independent restaurants may permanently close because of the pandemic by the end of 2020.

That’s according to a report commissioned by the Independent Restaurant Coalition.

Independent restaurants, which comprise 70% of all restaurants, rely more heavily on dine-in revenue than chains and don’t have a corporate safety net or support system to fall back on.

Gas prices

As the nation reopens, gas prices rise.

According to fuel-savings app GasBuddy, the national average prices of gasoline has risen for the sixth consecutive week from the low of $1.74 per gallon in April and increases are expected throughout the summer.

AAA says a gallon in central Indiana is $2.09 a gallon.
