Fishers Fire Department warns residents of potential scam

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) – The Fishers Fire Department wants to warn residents about a potential scam happening in the area.

Residents and local businesses have been contacted and have had monetary donations requested to assist the department.

The fire department released the following statement:

Fishers Fire Department is not soliciting funds nor have we authorized any entity to do so on our behalf. Should your company or residence be contacted, firefighters suggest noting the number being called from and then provide all information to the Fishers Police Department and never provide your credit card information over the phone.

While Fishers Fire Department does accept donations from many generous businesses and citizens through the Fishers Fire Foundation, we are not actively soliciting donations. All representatives of the department carry identification tags. If you are ever concerned as to the authenticity of a representative, request their information or contact 911 if you feel you are in danger.
