1 dead, 1 wounded in near north side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died and another man is injured after a shooting on the city’s near north side.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the intersection of 36th and Illinois streets around 7:40 p.m. Monday on a report of a person shot. 

One man was pronounced deceased on the scene and the other man was stable and taken to an area hospital, Officer Aaron Hamer with IMPD said. 

Illinois Street was blocked off from 36th to 37th streets, a News 8 crew said. 

No additional information about a potential suspect or the circumstances of the shooting was immediately available.
