Design and Color Forecast for 2019

It’s that time already!! Although we hate to rush 2018 out the door, we are anxious to discover what the 2019 design trends and color palettes are going to be.

Color direction in Interior Design is heavily influenced by many sources and often starts on the runway in fashion design. We then see it trickle into home interiors through paint colors, home furnishings and finish materials. We heavily rely on paint manufactures to forecast what’s to come, because they tend to be 12-18 months ahead of mainstream consumers in their color trend forecasting.

Danielle Myers, ASID, RID, and proprietor at Elle Designs, introduces some of early-released picks for next year’s color of the year:
PPG Paints has selected Night Watch PPG 1145-7. A darkened green that has the ability to almost act like a neutral color but yet intense enough to become a room’s feature color. It could be mistaken for black.  Behr Paints has selected Blue Print S470-5. An honest, approachable color that conjures up the blueprints builders rely on to bring architectural designs to life. Blueprint creates a space where you can build your own reimagined life.Sherwin Williams has released their 42 shade Colormix Palettes, as we await their specific Color of the Year 2019.

Paint companies gather 12+ months of data based on global travel influencers, looking at cultural shifts and consumer’s mindsets moving forward.

You will see these colors in the marketplace in fashion apparel items, home furnishings in all capacities, in the automotive industry, and in beauty and cosmetic products.

Are you someone that loves to incorporate trends into your home design? Some trends stick and some do not, so a good trend is said to last 5-7 years, such as the grey paint color domination we still continue to see. A bold trend can be infused sparingly into a space, allowing it to be inexpensive and easy to change up when it fades away.
