How to plan for your fall plantings

Did you know fall is the right time to plant trees in Indiana? You will typically have an increase in environmental moisture, and the trees get to focus on growing new roots, rather than leaves.

Carrie Tauscher, President of the Indiana Arborist Association, shares tips and reminders about planting trees in your yard.

The Indiana Arborist Association is holding a tree climbing competition on Saturday, October 6 at Garfield Park at Pavilion 1. Professional arborists will be competing in a speed climb, ascent event, work climb, and aerial rescue.

There will also be an opportunity for kids to take part in a climbing contest, and the DNR community, Urban Forestry, and Entomology/Plant Pathology experts will be on site to answer any questions you may have. The Indiana Arborist Association (IAA), a chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA),  strives to enhance the quality of life for Indiana residents by encouraging the planting, maintenance and preservation of trees. We seek to do this by increasing public awareness of the benefits provided by well-maintained trees, and promoting the advantages of working with qualified professional arborists who use current industry standards. IAA endeavors to efficiently serve the needs of its members by fostering opportunities for training and the exchange of ideas, and encouraging high ethical standards among its members and in the industry at large.
