Central Indiana Dance Ensemble presents a holiday classic “The Nutcracker”

Such beauty. Such grace.

Today on Indy Style, the Central Indiana Dance Ensemble performed a small part of the Sugar Plum Fairy Pas de Deux, which is the culmination of the Nutcracker ballet.

Central Indiana Dance Ensemble Artistic Director Suzann DeLay, along with performers Hannah Semler and Nick Poslusny chatted with Indy Style’s Tracy Forner about this year’s performance.

Hannah, a senior from Westfield, Indiana, will perform the role of Sugar Plum Fairy and Nick, a sophomore from Carmel, Indiana, will perform a variety of roles including Nutcracker, Mouse King and Marzipan.

Accompanying Hannah and Nick on stage in December will be 117 student performers representing 50 Central Indiana schools.

In addition to the ballet, CIDE will host a Sugar Plum Fairy Dessert Party prior to each matinee.  The Dessert Party offers parents and their children the opportunity to mingle with the characters from the Land of Sweets, participate in a craft, get silly in a fun photo booth, enjoy a yummy dessert, and have a professional photo taken with the Sugar Plum Fairy and Clara.  Tickets for the Dessert Party are $12 and are available in tandem with the purchase of a show ticket.

The Nutcracker runs December 14-16 at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.  Tickets are on sale now at cidedance.org.
