2 officers injured in crash near US 31

SOUTHPORT, Ind. (WISH) – Southport Police Captain Lamar Jones said two officers were injured in a vehicle accident.

Police responded to the area of U.S. 31 and County Line Road around 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to Capt. Jones, the two officers were in a police SUV pulling someone over when they were hit. The SUV hit the median, clipped a truck and then rolled over.

Firefighters say they had to cut one of the officers out of the SUV.

Both officers were transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
