3 people found dead in east side home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a triple homicide on the city’s east side.

Initially called a suspicious death investigation, IMPD said three people have been found dead inside of a home in the 1800 block of Forsythia Drive investigating. They were called to the scene just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning for a welfare check after the homeowner did not show up for work. Police said a family member came home and discovered the scene.

Police said there was no sign of forced entry and do not believe all three victims lived at the house.

The Hortons are a couple who live across the street from the home. They said they’re friends with the people who live in the house.

“I’ve never seen anything like that happen in the 42 years we’ve been here,” Susan Horton said.

“I’m lost. I don’t understand why,” Charles Horton said.

The couple said they do not know who police found Thursday morning, but they are friends with the people who live in the home.

“Very nice, wonderful people. Very friendly. Have been here for years. Would do anything for you,” Susan said.

The Horton said at least three people lived in the home: a man, a woman and their adult son. IMPD, however, does not believe that all three victims found Thursday lived in the house.

“They were very loving people, and they were very proud of their grandchildren,” Charles said. “If you needed help they were there and, if you didn’t, you didn’t even know they were on the place.”

Police have not released the names, ages or genders of the victims.

As of roughly 4:50 p.m., IMPD has confirmed they have located a red 2002 Monte Carlo with Indiana plate reading 328AES in connection to this investigation. It was found with no one inside on the 100 block of South Catherwood Avenue.
