Armed robbery suspect hit in Greendale police action shooting

GREENDALE, Ind. (WISH) – An armed robbery suspect was hit in a Greendale police action shooting Friday evening.

According to the Indiana State Police, they were called to called in to investigate the Friday night shooting.

ISP said officers with the Greendale Police Department were called to a Burger King for a reported armed robbery.

After arriving on scene, officers then headed into a nearby wooded area, where the suspect, 30-year-old Richard McCraken,  was last seen.

It was at that time that a confrontation ensued between McCraken and an officer.

Police mentioned that McCraken was armed with a knife during the altercation with the officer.  The suspect was then shot by police, being hit at least once.

First aid was administered to the suspect, and he was then taken to a Cincinnati area hospital by helicopter.

McCraken is not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
