Arrest made after ‘chopped’ and stolen vehicles found
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One man has been arrested after police found several “chopped” and stolen vehicles.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said 31-year-old Elisha Johnson has been arrested in the case.
Several police agencies collaborated on the case.
IMPD said a total of eight stolen vehicles were found following a search warrant in the 2000 block of Old Madison Avenue.
Police said the vehicles were being disassembled and sold as parts.
Johnson faces preliminary charges of theft/receiving stolen auto parts.
IMPD said these are the vehicles recovered:
- 1966 Ford F150, stolen out of Whiteland.
- 2013 Carry-on trailer, stolen out of White County on Oct. 10, 2015.
- 2003 Ford F350 stolen out of Carmel on Nov. 26, 2018. IMPD says this is a partial recovery and that the engine, transmission and cab are still missing.
- 2005 Chrysler 300, stolen out of Franklin on Jan. 8, 2019
- .2012 Buick Verno, stolen out of Marion County on Jan. 11, 2019. IMPD says this is a partial recovery and that the engine, transmission and frame are still missing
- 2008 Harley Davidson, stolen out of Marion County on Aug. 27, 2018 8/27/18. IMPD says it was a recovery of the engine and transmission only.
- 2018 GMC pickup, stolen out of Marion County on Dec. 17, 2018
- .2012 Chevy Silverado, stolen out of Lawrence on Nov. 19, 2018. IMPD says it was a recovery of the transmission only.
