Beautiful Saturday to turn into a wet Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Picture perfect weather will continue across central Indiana Saturday afternoon.  Highs will top out near 80 for most of the area, with clouds gradual building throughout the day.

The normal high for this time of year in Indianapolis is 64.

A large system will work into the Midwest starting during the overnight hours.  Clouds will increase leading into early Sunday morning.  Showers and storms will move into the southern third of the state by daybreak on Sunday, and will surge into the central part of the state by mid morning.  Steady showers with a few rumbles of thunder can be expected for the rest of our Sunday, gradually tapering off by late Sunday night.

A few storms could be strong, with hail and strong winds the primary concern south of Indianapolis.

Rainfall amounts could exceed 1.0″ for many by late Sunday night.

Much cooler temperatures will return following the rain.  Highs will only top out in the upper 50’s to around 60 through much of next week.
