Bishop Chatard students escort St. Augustine residents to prom

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — They got all dressed up, there was live music and dancing. It was just what you would expect from a prom.

But this senior prom was special.

Friday night, students from Bishop Chatard high school escorted the residents of St. Augustine Senior Center to the “senior prom.”

It’s a night the residents of St. Augustin look forward to every year but tonight was just as special for the 96 Chatard student volunteers.

“We really try and get kids involved in service and once they come and do this, they’re addicted to it and they want to come back and do it every year,” said Bishop Chatard teacher Kim Shaw.

Each resident was given a flower, and even went home with a picture of themselves with their Chatard student date.
