Former Indy mayor Ballard says he was ‘deeply impressed’ with Trump transition team

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Former Indianapolis mayor Greg Ballard traveled to New York Wednesday and met with President-elect Trump’s transition team at Trump Tower.

Spokesman Robert Vane told 24-Hour News 8 the meeting was a “general discussion,” saying it was unclear whether Ballard would meet President-elect Donald Trump.

Vane said the meeting was designed to see if the former mayor would be a good fit to join Trump’s staff.

A message from Vane Wednesday evening provided a statement from former mayor Ballard confirming the meeting with the president-elect’s transition team. Calling his discussions at Trump Tower “wide-ranging,” the former mayor said he was “deeply impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the people in the room.”

“It is an honor to be asked to participate in this process, and I look forward to further conversations,” said Ballard.Stay with WISHTV.com for updates.
