SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WISH) — A South Bend teen is dead after being found by police with a gunshot wound in an overturned car early Sunday morning.

South Bend Police Department say officers responded to the 700 block of North Brookfield Street on a report of multiple shots being fired just after 4 a.m. Officers found several shell casings in the street and an overturned Ford Taurus when they arrived.

Police say the Taurus struck hit a parked vehicle, spun around and rolled over.

The driver of the Taurus, 19-year-old Benjamin Harris Jr., was found with injuries from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he died.

A 21-year-old Mishawaka man, Tyreese Malone, was in the passenger seat of the Taurus. He was treated at a local hospital for injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and then released.

SBPD say witnesses have been interviewed but there is no available suspect information.
