Indy sailboat captain shows support for local police officers

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis sailboat captain created an opportunity to show his support for local police officers.

Todd Bracken owns the Dauntless Sailing School and had been working for a year in refurbishing the school’s flagship sailboat, Dauntless.

“Every day police officers risk their lives to make sure our community is safe,” said Bracken. “I cannot think of a better way to christen our new and improved flagship sailboat than by donating Dauntless’ first public sailing cruise to men and women in uniform. My hope is the cruise will allow officers to understand how much the community appreciates their dedication to our city and provide them an opportunity to enjoy a relaxing day on the water.”

Thursday, Bracken dedicated the boat’s maiden by sailing to local police departments and inviting some men and women in blue along.

Some Lawrence and Indianapolis Metro Police Officers enjoyed the ship’s first cruise.

It’s owner said Dauntless can hold up to 12 passengers and is the largest sailboat in the region.
