WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — Purdue University trustees approved a resolution confirming their support for development by the Purdue Research Foundation of a 1,000-bed student housing project at Third Street and McCormick Road in West Lafayette.

The project will consist of 401 units, and is expected to house almost 1,000 Purdue students.

The project was approved by the Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission in April 2022, and construction is anticipated to begin this summer for a Fall 2025 opening.

Purdue staff confirmed that a study is in development for a new student housing facility adjacent to the Hillenbrand Residence Hall. The board of trustees is anticipated to consider a new facility project for approval this summer.

After the Third-McCormick and Hillenbrand South residences come online, availability for student housing will substantially further increase at Purdue,” said Mung Chiang, Purdue President. “Our university again reaffirmed the importance of residential learning for Boilermakers.”
