Man dies while crossing I-65 in Seymour

SEYMOUR, Ind. (WISH) — A man was hit and killed while attempting to cross I-65 in Jackson County on Sunday, according to authorities.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says 52-year-old John Wade Adams, of Seymour, was crossing the southbound lanes of I-65 at the 55 mile marker when he was hit by a semi.

Adams was struck and landed more than 100 feet away, according to the sheriff’s department.

The semi driver, Sead Hadziefendic, 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, says he was driving in the southbound lanes when Adams stepped out in front of him.

Information from Adams’ family indicates he was walking back to his residence at the Days Inn on the east side of I-65 after getting money from a family member at the nearby Aisin Manufacturing company.

Hadziefendic has reportedly fully cooperated with authorities.
