NWS confirms 7 tornadoes in Indiana Monday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A slew of severe weather crossed Indiana Monday night, with thunderstorms and tornadoes.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that seven tornadoes touched down on Monday.

NWS said three tornadoes were EF-0, three were EF-1 and one was an EF-2.

Of the EF-0 tornadoes, one touched down near Clayton in Hendricks County, another EF-0 hit Tippecanoe County, four miles west of Battleground. Howard County also experienced an EF-0, six miles east Greentown.

The NWS went on to say that an EF-1 tornado struck approximately two and a half miles northwest of Avon in Hendricks County.

An EF-1 also touched down about one half mile east of Pittsboro, also in Hendricks County.

Hamilton County also had an EF-1 tornado hit, about two and a half miles south of Sheridan.

An EF-2 touched down in Boone County Monday evening, about two and a half miles southeast of Whitestown.
