One dead after triple shooting on city’s northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – One person is dead and two others were critically hurt after a shooting on the northeast side of Indianapolis Wednesday evening.

The fatal shooting victim was identified as 24-year-old Wesley Small, according to the Marion County Coroner’s office. A male victim was listed in critical condition and a female victim was in serious condition at a local hospital, according to police.

Police said Small was found dead at the crime scene near the intersection of 44th Street and Ralston Avenue. Police believe the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m.

All three people were shot inside a gray sedan. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Detectives don’t believe this was a random act of violence.

Police said detectives are questioning witnesses and trying to piece together a case.

“Whoever the caller was said that she heard someone screaming, possibly a female. There’s all sorts of evidence here, but once the crime lab gets here, they’ll be able to assess shell casings and so on,” Nightwatch Commander Michael Jefferson said.

If you know anything, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
