Police looking for hit-and run-driver

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Thursday evening, Jordan Offutt and her father went for a jog.

As the two entered the 4300 block of Eagle Creek, a driver ran into Jordan.

The impact shoved Jordan into a nearby ditch and the driver kept on going. Crews arrived to the scene and rushed the 23-year-old victim to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition.

While investigators went over the evidence, a neighbor jumped in his car and followed a trail of car debris left behind.

The damage took the man to Reed Road, but at some point the Good Samaritan lost the driver. Later in the evening, police found a vehicle fitting the suspect’s vehicle description. Officers did not find a suspect in the car but they towed it away.

24-Hour News 8 has learned that Offutt is a graduate of Cathedral High School and is a recent graduate of Indiana University.

According to family members, Offutt is in a medically-induced coma. Neighbors near the scene of the accident are praying that Offutt recovers from her injuries.

“I couldn’t sleep at all last night, I kept thinking about her. In fact, my son put on Facebook ‘let’s all pray for her,’” said resident Carolyn Brown.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
