Sick students: More than 20 middle schoolers sent home

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) –  Riverside Intermediate School in Fishers will be open as usual Friday, after a total of 28 students were sent home sick Thursday.

A nursing coordinator for the school says the students were sick with a 24-hour stomach virus, with symptoms of nausea or vomiting. The school said they are taking the necessary precautions to keep students safe and healthy.

Spokesperson Bev Redmond said they sanitized the school Thursday evening, and they plan to do another round of cleaning of high touch areas in the school and on buses.

Parents have been sent notices about what happened, Redmond said.

She also said that they want parents to know that if your kids aren’t feeling well, don’t send them to school on Monday.
