Whitestown Town Council approves anti-discrimination ordinance
WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WISH) — Whitestown wants everyone to know that it is open to all.
The Whitestown Town Council unanimously approved a resolution to proclaim that Whitestown promotes diversity and inclusion.
An ordinance was also updated to include anti-discrimination for sexual orientation in the Whitestown employee manual.
“Whitestown is open to all and discriminates against no one,” said Whitestown town council president Eric Miller (R).
A second ordinance got a first reading and will be discussed prior to the next town council meeting. This ordinance would create a human relations committee that would define protected classes to include sexual orientation.
The next town council meeting will be Tuesday, May 12.
