Woman chained, raped and locked in basement for 4 days

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman was chained and locked in a basement while a suspect raped her, according to court documents. Now, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers are searching for the suspect.

On July 14, police were called to a home on Norwaldo Avenue on the city’s north side after neighbors reported hearing a woman screaming for help. Officers entered the home and found a woman handcuffed, shackled and chained to a pole in the basement, court records state.

Police say they found the woman naked on the basement floor with a pad lock around her neck and shackles around her feet that were bolted to the floor.

The woman told police that she arrived in Indianapolis on July 10 and was staying at The Executive Inn on Lafayette Road. She told them she met up with a man she was talking to on a telephone chat line. The male picked her up at the hotel and she left the hotel with him. He drove her to the home where they listened to music before the suspect sprayed her with pepper spray and handcuffed her.

She was held and in the basement for four days with duct tape on her mouth.

The suspect was described as a black male with short hair that appeared to be balding around the edges. The victim said he had a tattoo on his chest that said “Prince” in red letters.
