82-year-old woman dies in Mooresville house fire

UPDATE: Brock Chapman, public information officer with the Mooresville Police Department, said Friday that the fire was ruled accidental, although the reason the fire started continued to be investigated. The son of 82-year-old Opalene Daughtery, who died in the fire, was identified Friday as Robert Daughtery, 55. He is in critical condition.

MOORESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — An 82-year-old woman has died after a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Mooresville, according to Mooresville Police Department.

Emergency responders were called just after 2 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of Fairwood Court.

Firefighters were able to remove one male from the home and he was transported to Eskenazi Hospital. A woman was also found at the scene. She died from injuries sustained in the fire, according to authorities. Police have identified her as 82-year-old Opalene Daughtery.

Information on how the fire started was not immediately available.
