INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Last week NBA players sent shock waves across the sports world when they boycotted a playoff game.
Those actions grabbed the attention of one Indy Eleven player. Captain Matt Watson decided not to join his team when they played Louisville on Aug. 26.
“I did not refuse to play, I just emotionally could not find the strength to hold back the pain inside me after witnessing so many black people gunned down like animals,” Watson said in a Tweet last week.
WISH-TV Sports Director Anthony Calhoun heard more from Watson on why he made the powerful decision. Learn more from this segment of “We Stand Together.”
