‘Gr8 Comeback’: Fuqua Institute of Beauty Culture

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Jacqueline Fuqua has worked in the hair and beauty industry for 38 years. For the last few of those years she’s dedicated herself to providing a path for others to get to their dreams.

She created the Fuqua Institute of Beauty Culture to give people in her community an opportunity to “turn our passion into your profession.”

The institute aims to equip barbers and cosmetologists with the tools they need to compete in the field.

“I feel like you should be passionate about what you do,” Fuqua said.

She told the Randall Newsome that she was inspired, after becoming a professional herself and using her passion to take care of her family, to help others do the same. Fuqua says her institute has graduated more than 100 students so far. They also teach people how to become educators.

“I love that I can help so many people become professional,” Fuqua said. “It’s just been awesome. We’ve graduated over 100 students so far. It’s just been a dream come true.”

The shop also takes clients looking for hair, nail and other cosmetology services.
