Local artist to host online market after Indiana Artisan Marketplace cancellation

Silk painter shares art online

Local silk painter, Carrie Wright took us behind the scenes this morning as she prepares to host a Facebook live market this Saturday, April 4 at 10 a.m.

Carrie is one of 120 visual artists and food or beverage producers who were set to be apart of the 10th Annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace this weekend.

Like all Indiana Artisan-designated work, Carrie’s went through a rigorous jurying process and is decidedly among the best in the state.

Carrie says, “In 2006, I made a significant life choice to leave corporate America behind. After six years of business travel three weeks out of every month, I’d had enough! These days I’m usually found in my 10’x10′ home studio designing a new painting, brushing dye on a scarf, and generally getting away with goofing off while thoroughly enjoying my work. Hopefully, you can see the joy pouring out of the silk I paint, and you will experience that joy when looking at my work.”

In addition to scarves, she paints silk for banners, clothing, boudoir designs and accessories or small decor items. As she often warns, Don’t get her near silk or she’ll paint it.
