500 Festival car stolen from dealership showroom

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police said they were searching for a suspect on Thursday who stole a 500 Festival car from a north side dealership’s showroom.

According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, IMPD responded to the report of a vehicle theft at Bill Estes Chevrolet.

Police said someone broke into the dealership’s showroom and stole a 500 Festival car.

The suspect turned on the vehicle, and drove it, literally, through the showroom glass front door with its top down.

The car was found, damaged, near Ford Road and Irishmans Run Lane.

Police from the Zionsville Police Department, IMPD and other districts searched the area with K-9 units for hours for the suspect. The Zionsville Fire Department also used a thermal imaging device to try to locate the man. The suspect’s white t-shirt was found by the K-9 unit. Police said the suspect with no shirt, was knocking on doors at one point seeking shelter. Police believe he escaped the area before a perimeter could be established.

They described the suspect as a white male, possibly not wearing a shirt and wearing glasses.

Police said the man would be injured, and bleeding, from crashing the car through the glass at the dealership.

Police say there will be added police patrols throughout the morning in the Fox Hollow and Irishman’s Run Subdivisions Thursday. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call the Boone County Communications Center by dialing 911.

The damaged car is back at the dealership. The general manager there says they will open as usual Thursday.
