Wayne is considered one of the greatest receivers in the Colts’ history. Wayne had a hall-of-fame caliber career as a Colt – playing 14 years and making the Pro Bowl six times.

The Colts parted ways with Wayne in March, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Ballard said Wayne has been a role model for many years and deserves this recognition.

“Reggie has given back to our community on and off the field, and I am thrilled to present him with the key to the city,” said Ballard.

IBE will also honor Wayne during a “Thank You Reggie” exhibit at the Cultural Arts Pavilion starting Friday and goes to Sunday. The community can also sign a display and see Wayne during the annual Amp Harris & Reggie Wayne Saving Our Youth Celebrity Basketball game on Saturday at 6 p.m. in at Hall J of the Indiana Convention Center.
