Eli Lilly announces global health care expansion

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Eli Lilly announced new efforts to expand access to global health care.

Eli Lilly said Tuesday morning a new multi-million dollar investment will give more people around the world access to diabetes, cancer and tuberculosis treatments. The Indianapolis-based company wants to reach six times the number of people it currently reaches, in parts of the world that have limited access to health care.

In a news release, the company said the investment will go toward the Lilly Global Health Partnership.

Eli Lilly will not just be working to expand health care in other parts of the world, but at home as well. The company said it will announce a new plan to expand health care in Indianapolis.

The Lilly CEO, global health care experts and the director of the Marion County Health department are expected at Tuesday morning’s announcement.
