INDOT removing campaign signs along state highways

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) – Indiana Department of Transportation say beginning Monday it will begin removing signs along state highways in Morgan and surrounding counties.

A release from INDOT said it will remove individual signs causing immediate safety risks.

Signs too close to the roadway or creating a sight obstruction will be specifically targeted.

According to Indiana Code 9-21-4-6, political campaign signage is prohibited from federal and state highway rights-of-way.

In the Martinsville area, removed signs will be taken to the INDOT Martinsville maintenance facility at 1188 Lenvoil Road.

Campaigns can get their signs between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
