Hoosier schools among ‘Best Colleges in America’

STATEWIDE (Inside INdiana Business) – A recent study ranks more than 20 Indiana colleges and universities among the “Best Colleges in America.” MONEY magazine’s ranking of more than 700 U.S. schools was determined by evaluating quality of education, affordability and outcomes.

Purdue University ranks the highest of all Hoosier schools on the list, coming in at No. 23, followed by Indiana University in Bloomington at No. 58 and the University of Notre Dame at No. 60.

  • Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame – 160
  • Wabash College – 165
  • Trine University, Angola – 194
  • Taylor University – 244
  • University of Evansville – 249
  • Illinois Wesleyan University – 250
  • Ball State University – 392
  • Valparaiso University – 398
  • Bethel University – 433
  • Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology – 449
  • Huntington University – 490
  • Hanover College – 506
  • Earlham College – 545
  • Butler University – 550
  • University of Saint Francis, Fort Wayne – 553
  • Marian University – 591
  • Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion – 639

The top three schools include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at No. 1, Stanford University at No. 2, and Princeton University at No. 3.

The magazine says it weighed more than 20,000 data points, including tuition fees, family borrowing, and career earnings to find the schools that successfully combine quality and affordability.
