NASA launching tiny satellites to improve hurricane forecasts
(WISH) — NASA is set to launch tiny satellites to help improve hurricane forecasts.
A plane will carry a Pegasus rocket to about 40,000 feet Wednesday. The rocket will be released and boosters will propel it into space.
From there the rocket will deploy eight small satellites into orbit, providing better hurricane predictions back on earth.
The satellites will work in tandem to measure near-surface ocean winds in hurricanes, typhoons and other tropical cyclones.
