Temperatures continue to climb with upper 80s possible this weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Good Thursday morning, everyone! We’re off to a partly cloudy and mild start.

Temperatures will rise quickly this afternoon under mostly sunny skies.

Highs will reach the low 80s in most areas, roughly three to five degrees above where we should be in most areas.

Late Thursday evening, under mostly clear skies, temps will drop into the upper 60s by midnight and eventually tumble into the low 60 by daybreak Friday.

Expect a similar day Friday. Plenty of sunshine and warmer temps yet.

High temps will reach the mid 80s to close out the work week!

Outside of a few clouds, we should end the work week on a dry note.

High school football looks to be a bit warm, but no weather problems outside of that.

Temperatures will continue to climb into the weekend with highs in the mid 80s Saturday and the upper 80s by Sunday in many areas.

If you’re heading to any of the college football games this Saturday, be it IU v. Ball State or Purdue v. Missouri, the skies should be mostly clear and temps will be mild.

Hurricane Florence is a Category 2 storm this morning, weakening for the time being due to increased wind shear.

Cannot rule out the storm restrengthening in the coming hours before moving towards the Carolinas late tonight and early Friday. That storm, or the remnants thereof, could potentially slide our direction by the second half of the weekend and early next week. There is still an abundance of uncertainty, so we’ll keep and eye on it.

Limited rain chances have been added for Sunday and Monday in addition to the possibility of breezy conditions.

Temperatures will remain above average through the next five to seven days.

We don’t have any big weathermakers for certain in the 8-Day Forecast, though cooler temperatures are possible by the end of next week and next weekend.
