12 additional coonhounds found dead in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An additional 12 Bluetick Coonhounds have been found dead in Cass County.

Cass County Animal Control reported on April 9 that 13 hounds had been shot and left for dead in a ditch and the surrounding area.

Five dogs and a cat were found dead in a drainage ditch Tuesday, and another seven dogs were discovered Wednesday. The cause of the death for these recently discovered animals wasn’t known.

Sgt. Daniel Neher with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said he wanted to update the community, but that he wished he had better news.

Of the dogs found, 12 were puppies, 12 were grown female dogs and one was an adult male dog.
