2020 Brickyard 400 will be on Fourth of July weekend

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — NASCAR announced on Tuesday that the Brickyard 400 will be held on the Fourth of July weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway beginning with the 2020 race.

This is the race’s third spot on the calendar after the event was previously run in cooler temperatures in  September of 2018.

The Fourth of July NASCAR race was previously held at Daytona International Speedway, but NASCAR announced that Daytona will now host the final regular season race on August 29, 2020 and the ISM Raceway in Phoenix will now host the championship race.

NASCAR unveiled several schedule changes including a doubleheader race at Pocono on June 27-28 and a two-week break from racing during the last weekend of July and the first weekend of August.

The move is part of a larger schedule makeover for NASCAR, which moved several races to consolidate the new race schedule.
