74-year-old woman in critical condition after west side fire
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 74-year-old woman is in critical condition after a house fire on the west side of Indianapolis Friday.
It happened in the 3600 block of West Vermont Street, near Michigan Street and Tibbs Avenue, around 12:30 p.m. Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly an hour.
Speedway FD and Wayne Township FD were called to assist Indy crews.
The house is owned by a couple with six children.
None of them were home at the time of the fire, and the family plans to stay with relatives.
Damage is estimated at around $110,000. The fire was blamed on a faulty light socket on the front porch.
