Avon schools lockdown over following robbery in the area

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — Schools in Avon were on lockdown following a robbery near the school corporation.

In a statement posted to its website, the Avon Community School Corporation said Avon police notified the corporation of an attempted robbery at the Shell station at Avon Avenue and Rockville Road shortly after 10:30 a.m. The lockdown was lifted at 11:45 a.m.

The statement said the suspect fled the area on foot and the schools locked down all exterior entrances.

There will be no outdoor recess as a result.
