Carmel students honor veterans with posters

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — Among the heroes in the Tarkington Theater for Carmel’s Veterans Day ceremony, were several kids there to show the work honoring them.

They recognized the heroes in Carmel, and some of their own.

“I like it because my grandpa used to be in the Air Force,” second grader Blake Brauer said, “”One of my great grandpas was in the Air Force in World War Two.”

His poster featured a bald eagle wearing an Air Force hat, a tribute to his Air Force heroes.

“I like them serving for our country,” he said.

“I made an American flag and it has words on it like, ‘Thank you, veterans home of the free and the brave’ hearts and then some stars in the background,” said first grader Gabriella Goldberg.

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than one self,” said Aashrith Goli about the words he wrote on his poster.

“Over here I put a Coast Guard helicopter saving somebody,” he said as he pointed.

Those are heartfelt details, thanking the heroes among us.

“Because they fought for our country.”
