Cat credited for saving family of 3 from house fire
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The family cat is being credited for helping a family of three escape a house fire on the city’s northwest side.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department officials, firefighters arrived to a home in the 4500 block of Wixshire Court around 3:40 a.m. They say the home had heavy fire showing from the home with they arrived.
The family told IFD that their cat, Naven, woke them up and alerted them to the fire. Investigators say the cat is now unaccounted for.
The fire was under control at 4:23 a.m.
Two firefighters from Pike Township were slightly injured during the fire. No other injuries were reported.
Officials say there were no working smoke alarms inside the residence. The damage was estimated at $85,000.
