Coroner: Victim from hit and run dead

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis coroner confirmed that Tanya Turman died after being the victim of a hit and run accident in March.

Turman died on Saturday. Her family reported that she was comfortable, in no pain and that her mother was with her when she died.

The family finalized funeral arrangements and there will be a vigil on Tuesday at the site of the hit and run.

Police released a video of the incident to generate tips after the incident. Turman, who was deaf and partially blind, was walking to the bus stop.

The driver of the vehicle, 31-year-old Corey Patrick, was arrested by IMPD. According to IMPD, Patrick contacted police wanting to turn himself in.

Patrick faces one count of leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, a level 6 felony.

Patrick’s initial hearing is set for April 16.
