Dump truck, tractor collide in Parke County

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Both drivers who were involved in a serious accident on U.S. Highway 36 in Parke County on Wednesday have been identified.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday near Raccoon Lake on U.S. 36.

Officials told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, WTHI, a dump truck carrying rocks hit a tractor that was pulling a trailer.

The driver of the tractor has been identified as 29-year-old Joseph Biggs from Greencastle. During the accident, Biggs was ejected from the tractor and had to be airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of “serious injuries.” He is currently listed in critical condition.

Crews worked for almost three hours to get the driver of the dump truck out of the vehicle. He has been identified as Anthony Fiscus, 43 of Illinois. Fiscus had to be airlifted as well and is listed in critical but stable condition.

According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. 36 was re-opened around 9:30 p.m. after being closed for more than six hours.
