Event spotlights teen dating violence
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Dozens gathered at Carmel City Hall on Tuesday morning to address teen dating violence.
Statistics show one in three teen girls is abused by a dating partner at some point, and Indiana has the second highest rate of forced sex among high school girls in the nation.
Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard and a local teen victim of dating abuse were among the speakers.
Community leaders and service providers were on hand to answer questions and discuss ways people can help put a stop to the violence.
