Fire damages west side apartment

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A woman is without a home after a fire at a west side apartment complex Wednesday night.

Firefighters arrived to the Addison Creek Apartments around 8:30 p.m. and found flames shooting out of a ground-floor unit, according to Wayne Township Fire Department.

A woman living in the apartment that caught on fire said she awoke to the smoke alarm going off. She and her dog escaped without injury.

The fire caused $20,000 in damage to the woman’s apartment. Two other units were also damaged.

The fire was under control in 15 minutes.

A cause for the fire is under investigation.
