Fired western Indiana town marshal is rehired by council
HYMERA, Ind. (AP) – Council members in a western Indiana community have rehired the town’s former marshal months after he was fired and television cameras captured him attacking his replacement.
The Hymera Town Council reinstated Darrick Cullison on Tuesday, four months after he was fired by the council’s previous members amid allegations he was paid for hours not worked.
Cullison gained national attention in December after television cameras captured him attacking his replacement during a December council meeting in the town 25 miles south of Terre Haute.
The Sullivan Daily Times reports Cullison’s replacement, Daryl McCullough, twice failed a law enforcement test and was fired before new council members were sworn in Jan. 1.
A lawsuit Cullison filed seeking his job back was settled out of court last week.
